SHARING YOUR PASSION FOR THE FITNESS & ADVENTURE SPORTS YOU LOVE

I'd been doing ART for a while when I hired an associate that had already taken the Graston course. I asked him what conditions he used the technique for and he said "Oh, I.T. bands and plantar fascia...not much else." I asked to take them home one night to play with them (the tools...6 differently-shaped stainless steel dull blades)....I had no idea how life-changing that evening would be. I went downstairs to my gym and stripped down to my shorts. I started a "search and destroy mission" with my accumulated areas of fibrosis. Honestly, I thought I was just stiffening with age. I was 41 at the time and starting to accept certain limitations, because after all, I get adjusted, I get ART'd, I eat my fish oil....I figured I was doing the best I could for myself. But when I started going over my body, part by part, I found areas that I had no idea were there. I "scraped" everything. As I removed stuff that I didn't even know was present (Graston is a great DETECTION as well as treatment tool) I found my muscle bellies filling back out, right before my eyes. My shoulders popped out, my thighs puffed up. I spent two and a half hours (total OVERKILL, I paid for it later with intense soreness and bruising...I later took the course and learned how to do it right!) ripping up my body. My first idea after doing my calves and arms was to get behind my drumset and play to some speedy songs. My bass foot (right calf) was more powerful, my timing was better and I seemed to have endless energy without tiring compared to what I had previously. I could flail my arms around again with ease! My next idea was to strap on my rollerblades, which I hadn't used in a year...I skated like I was in high school again, I KID YOU NOT. I hopped on my mountainbike (by now it was 10:30p and my wife wondered what the heck I was up to) and rode faster and farther then I had ridden in years, again getting a real good pump in my thighs...had trouble doing my own hams properly though. It was amazing. I did standing jumps up onto things that I never would have dreamed of trying before. All this in one night. I was sold. I called Graston Techniques the next day and signed up for the next seminar. I've been doing the technique on patients for 2 years now and it never ceases to astound me. "Amazing" is probably the word I hear the most when I treat a patient. That word is SO over-used, but with Graston, it fits. Peace.

I, too, can attest to the incredible benefits of Graston in curing injuries and improving overall flexibility. Andy has fixed many of my nagging injuries with a combination of both A.R.T. & Graston and I am now able to do Baptiste Power Yoga without bowing out of the many of the moves or risking serious injury (the Yoga should now help me avoid injuries).

Although Graston seems to be similarly effective on almost any part of the body, the most amazing result to me was that Andy was able to get rid of my 25-year-old Runner's Knee (Patellae Chondromelacia) mainly by scaping away all of the fibrosis in and around my kneecap. Immediately after, I become, virtually, symptom free and I could feel that my kneecap was MUCH looser when I staightened my leg (so much for the suggestion from the Georgtown Hoya's orthopedist about clipping some of my ligaments to free-up my "tight" kneecap which, admittedly, he didn't necessarily recommend, but was the only solution he could fathom). I know there are tons of people out there getting chortisone shots and having surgery who could, otherwise, be cured with A.R.T. and/or Graston.

What is a Hostel ?

This is my first blog post and i would enjoy to write a few sentences about hostels. Hostels are a magnificent method to see the world on a budget. From the cheapest to the more grand there is something to accommodate every preference and budget. The important thing about hostels is that tons of university students flock to them as they are cheap and enjoyable so there is all the time lots of student travelers around to party with!

In generally every other… Continue
